"Check DNS" keeps failing
- Check the record name exactly. Some providers add your domain automatically: enter
go, notgo.yourbrand.com. Others require the full name. The dashboard shows both forms. - Only one CNAME can exist for a name. Delete any A, AAAA or old CNAME records for
go. - For a root domain use an A record
@→ the IP shown in the dashboard; DNS does not allow a CNAME at the root. - If we asked for a TXT record, its value must include the
urlcrop-verify=prefix. - Run
dig go.yourbrand.comor usednschecker.org. If the answer does not resolve tocname.urlcrop.comor to our IP, DNS has not updated yet; wait and try again (usually under 15 minutes, up to 48 hours).
Links on my domain show a Cloudflare page, a certificate warning or "not found"
- Your Cloudflare record is proxied (orange cloud). Switch it to DNS only (grey cloud). A proxied record hides your domain behind Cloudflare's addresses, so our servers cannot prove control of the hostname and the certificate is never issued.
- The domain is in Needs attention; open it for the reason.
The certificate is not being issued
- Nobody has visited the domain over HTTPS yet: open
https://go.yourbrand.comonce. - A CAA record on your domain does not allow
letsencrypt.org: add0 issue "letsencrypt.org"or remove the restriction, then click Retry (see SSL status). - The record was removed or proxied after verification: fix it and click Check DNS.
My domain was Active but stopped working
- Someone changed DNS at the provider, or the domain registration expired. Fix the record or renew the domain; we re-check automatically within an hour.
Still stuck? Email support@urlcrop.com with the domain name and a screenshot of your DNS records.
