URL, WhatsApp and vCard codes are dynamic and tracked. UPI codes can be static (opens straight in UPI apps, no scan tracking, cannot be changed after printing) or dynamic (tracked and editable). Wi-Fi codes are always static. More types (Google Review, menu/PDF, app store smart QR, SMS, email) are Coming soon.

TypeWhat happens on scanFields
URLOpens the destination websiteDestination URL
WhatsAppOpens a WhatsApp chat with your number and a pre-filled messagePhone number with country code (for example +91 98765 43210), optional message
UPI paymentStatic: opens the scanner's UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and others) with payee and amount pre-filled. Dynamic: shows a confirmation page with the payee name, UPI ID and amount, then Pay with UPI app opens the UPI app. The page asks payers to compare the address shown with the one printed under the code, and, until your workspace is trusted, notes that the payee has not been verified by URLCropUPI ID (for example shop@upi), payee name, optional fixed amount, optional note. Money goes straight to your UPI account; URLCrop never handles it.
vCardShows a contact card page with Save contact. Until your workspace is trusted, the website appears as plain text with "Check this address before visiting" instead of a linkName, phone, email, company, title, website, address
Wi-FiOffers to join a Wi-Fi networkNetwork name (SSID), password, security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP, none), hidden network toggle

Tips

  • UPI QR codes made in URLCrop are tracked by scan, which standard UPI QR codes are not. Payments themselves still settle through your UPI provider.
  • The UPI QR free tool at urlcrop.com/tools/upi-qr makes an untracked static code entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to us or stored. For a tracked, editable UPI code, create it in QR Studio with your account.
  • Wi-Fi codes are static: the network name and password are inside the printed code and visible to anyone who scans it, so do not use them for private networks. We store the password encrypted and never show it again after you save. Because the image contains the password, Wi-Fi codes have no shareable image links: download them from the dashboard while signed in.
  • vCard details are shown to anyone who scans the code.
